The official Steam listing
Everything on Steam sits under one app id, 3271280. That number, not the page title, is how you confirm you are on the real product page, because the store also returns a second, separate entry when you search the name.
- Developer
- Team Lazerbeam, based in Cape Town
- Publisher
- Devolver Digital
- Early Access release
- September 10, 2026
- Price at launch
- US$14.99, with no launch discount (€14.99 / £13.99 / ¥59 on the same day)
The platform and feature fields answer two questions players ask early. The store lists Windows and macOS as the supported systems and does not list Linux. It records the game as single-player, with 14 Steam achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, and no co-op or multiplayer mode of any kind.

Game, demo, and prototype are three different downloads
Searching "Shroom and Gloom" on Steam returns two results, and neither of them is the 2024 prototype. The demo is published as an app in its own right, with its own id and its own store page.
| Download | What it is | How to recognise it |
|---|---|---|
| Early Access game | The paid release that started September 10, 2026, with the caves and The Facility routes. | App id 3271280, price shown on the page. |
| Free demo | A separate, free Steam entry that predates the Early Access build. | App id 3602770, listed as a Demo with no price. |
| 2024 prototype | An older, unfinished build used to test interest before a publisher was on board. | Lives on Team Lazerbeam's own itch.io page, not on Steam. |
Because they are separate entries, buying the game does not replace a demo install, and removing the demo does not touch the game. The app id in the store URL tells you which page you are on.
What the store page says that players often miss
The page does carry the Early Access tag, both in the genre line and in the dedicated Early Access box, and the release date shown on it is the Early Access date rather than a 1.0 date. Community posts claiming Steam has no such tag are reading the page before the box renders or looking at the demo, which is not tagged that way.
The language list needs a closer look than the badge suggests. The store lists Simplified Chinese support, while launch-window reviews describe missing or garbled characters in the Chinese text. The developers have not published a statement either way, so treat Chinese support as listed but uneven until a patch note says otherwise.
Which pages belong to the developers
Four places publish information about this game in the developers' or publisher's own voice: the Steam store page and its news hub, the Devolver Digital game page, Team Lazerbeam's itch.io prototype, and the publisher's YouTube channel. Anything else is reporting or community summaries.
Only the Steam listing sells the game. The free demo sits on Steam alongside it, and the older prototype is still downloadable from Team Lazerbeam's own itch.io page.
